World Largest Book Will Appear At The British Library
this huge map needs 6 men to lift, and will be displayed at the British Library at the coming exhibition from April 30.
Originally a Dutch merchant called Yohannes Klencke made and gave it to the monarch in 1660.
It was just the Restoration period after the Puritan Revolution. So it was a bribe for the returning monarch in a bid to win favour with Klencke.
The British Library is planning a new exhibition "Magnificent Maps: Power, Propaganda and Art" and this largest map will be one of the most remarkable features among 100 maps.
I used the British Library several times while writing my dissertation, but have never been to their exhibitions. Their exhibitions have a good reputation always and I cannot miss them next time.
## Regarding the Puritan Revolution, I cannot forget James VI of Scotland (James I of England) whom I wrote about in my undergraduate dissertation.
My history teacher at high school often told that successors to great kings or leaders were good-for-nothing almost always. I agree with that.
