世界で一番迷惑な空港

米 Forbes 誌がまとめた「世界で最も遅れの出る空港」。

1. インディラ・ガンジー国際空港 （デリー, インド）
2. チャットラパティー・シヴァージー国際空港 （ムンバイ, インド）
3. アタテュルク国際空港（イスタンブール, トルコ）
4. チェンナイ国際空港（チェンナイ、インド）
5. オンタリオ国際空港（ロサンゼルス、アメリカ）

出発便・到着便全体のワーストランキングの上位にイギリスが入っていないのは意外でしたが、出発便の遅延率ワースト 8 位には、ロンドンのスタンステッド空港（定刻出発率 66.7％）が登場。長距離便が発着するヒースロー空港に比べると、格安フライト便やテロのイメージのするスタンステッド。

ちなみに、世界で最も遅延率が少ない空港は、大阪国際空港（伊丹空港）でした。ネットには、「今の伊丹空港には長距離国際線は発着していないから、対象外だ」との声もありましたが…。ちなみに世界のトップ 10 空港には、関西国際空港が 6 位にランクされていました。

旅行会社で働いていた頃、ヒースロー空港は荷物紛失・破損率が世界でもトップ 1 に近いことで有名でした。

信憑性はともかく、ヒースロー乗り換えが一番危険らしく、一度ヒースローで降りて荷物を受け取ってから、改めて翌日、次の目的地へのフライトに乗った知人もいたぐらいです。

エジンバラ・フェスティバルに参加する一行の中にいた知人は、ヒースロー乗り換えの際にスーツケースがウィーンに行ってしまい、その夜航空会社から支給されたぬいぐるみのようなベビーブルーのパジャマをいまだにしぶしぶ（？）愛用中。

出張でスイスに行った知人は、スーツケースが紛失し、英語が苦手なスイスの現地係員に電話で延々どならなければなりませんでした。しかし、さすが時計の国スイス、「ビジネスにどうしても必要だから、明日の朝一番に私のスーツケースをホテルまで届けなさい！」と言ったら、夜遅くだったにも関わらず、翌日一秒もたがわず、時刻通りにスーツケースが届けられたそうです。

他の知り合いは、フランスからイギリスに戻るフライトで、預けたスーツケースが恐ろしく破損してしまい、航空会社から新品のスーツケースを贈呈されたとか。

と話題に事欠かないヒースロー空港。幸い私は空港の長い行列（出発の ３ 時間前に空港についても間に合わない位、ヒースローの混雑ぶりは悪名高い）以外には被害を受けたことがないですが、一昨年フランスから日本へ帰国する便で、預けたスーツケースの中身が盗難にあったことがありました。

被害を受けたのはヒースローではなく、パリのシャルル・ド・ゴール空港。チェックイン カウンターでスーツケースを預けた後、その中からアクセサリーと友達から修理を頼まれた腕時計が抜き取られてしまったのです。

航空会社に申し立てると、「今までも荷物の抜き取りが起こって、現地職員の摘発など、改善策を進めています」との表明はあったものの、「国際航空協定で、貴重品は補償の対象にはなりません」と断言され、腕時計はもちろん、安物でもアクセサリーは弁償の対象にはならず、割れたビスケットの代金だけが航空会社から渡されました（最終的には、海外旅行保険でいくらか補償してもらえましたが）。

旅先だったので、高価なものは持っていなかったものの、昔母から誕生日プレゼントにもらったペンダントもあったのでショック。それ以来、アクセサリーは絶対にスーツケースには入れないようになりました。

盗まれたアクセサリーの中には、自作のビーズのアクセサリーもあり、「クリニャンクールとまではいかなくても、ヴァンヴの蚤の市辺りで売られたのかなあ、一体いくらで売れたんだろう」というのが今となっては気になります。

World's Worst Airports

The US Forbes announced "World's Most-delayed Airports."

1. Indira Gandhi International Airport (Dehli, India)
2. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai, India)
3. Istanbul Ataturk International Airport (Istanbul, Turkey)
4. Chennai International Airport (Chennai, India)
5. LA-Ontario International Airport (Los Angeles, U.S.)

Amazingly none of UK airports was in the top 5 in total (departure and arrival). UK's Stansted Airport was the eighth worst for arrival at 66.7%. While Heathrow Airport is the main airport with more long-haul flights, Stansted is a handy airport with low-cost airlines and had a terror attack before.

Osaka International Airport (Itami Airport) in Osaka was the world's least delayed airport in 2009. Someone commented "Itami Airport does not have a long-haul flight any more." on the Web. Kansai International Airport was the sixth best airport by world airport awards.

Heathrow Airport was really notorious as one of the worst airport for lost and damaged baggage when I was working for a travel agency in London.

I'm not sure about the believability, connecting flight at Heathrow is most dangerous to miss your suitcase. One of my friend stopped at Heathrow to pick up her suitcase and took another flight from there to Edinburgh on the following day.

My friend was heading for Edinburgh with musicians and staff to join Edinburgh Art Festival. Her suitcase had travelled to Vienna by mistake. She is still wearing stuffed baby-blue pajamas which airline company provided.

Another friend travelled to Switzerland on business. Her suitcase had gone somewhere else and she had to claimed it by phone to a local staff who couldn't understand English enough for hours. Finally she said "It's really critical issue for my business. This is your fault and you should deliver my suitcase to the hotel early by tomorrow morning." Though it was already very late in the evening, her suitcase arrived at the reception of her hotel just on time next early morning...punctual to a second. Such a watch-making people in Switzerland!!

One of my ex-colleague came back to London after the holiday in France. When he arrived at Heathrow, what he found at first was his terribly damaged suitcase. Airline company sent a brand new one to him after that.

In my case, I didn't have any serious incidences at Heathrow Airport so far (just always have to wait in a massive queue. I should have arrived at Heathrow more than 3 hours before my departure). I had a bad lack with airport 2 years ago. When I flew back from Paris to Tokyo.

After I had asked to keep my suitcase at check-in counter at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, a fancy watch (my friend asked me to fix it in Paris) and some accessories were stolen from the suitcase.

I claimed the compensation for it to the airline company, they sent an apology "I feel so sorry to heart that. The similar cases have been reported to us and we have detected some of the airport staff concerned with the theft with the police last April...bla bla bla". And they also said "I'm afraid we cannot compensate for your stolen watch and accessories as we adopt the international aviation agreement and it states any valuables are out of our coverage". I couldn't receive a penny for the watch, even nothing for my stolen accessories which are far from luxury "valuables". They paid exactly the same amount of the money on the receipt for my broken biscuits. Later, most of the damage was covered by a travel insurance.

I didn't bring any expensive accessories, but what I missed was a pendant which was a birthday present from my mother nearly 10 years ago. Sine then, I do not leave accessories in a suitcase when I take a flight.

Another concern is my handmade ring and pendant. They would have been sold at a market in Paris, not at Clignancourt but Vanves or somewhere in Paris. I wonder how much they could get fro m both of them.
